  • Book Club: The goal of this club is to promote a love of reading and to provide a space for young readers to discuss books! Meetings are held on the third Thursday of each month, starting on Thursday October 17th at 5:30 PM at the Fallsgrove Panera.   • Math Olympiad: Math Olympiad is an after school club on Wednesdays for students in Grade 3, 4, 5, led by our very own Mr. John Wright, CGES paraeducator. The national Mathematical Olympiads for Elementary and Middle School (MOEMS) organization provides materials that must be purchased annually by the club. MOEMS objectives are “to teach multiple strategies for out-of-the-box problem solving, develop mathematical flexibility in solving those problems, and foster mathematical creativity and ingenuity.”

FALL/WINTER 2024 - Before and After School Programs at CGES

Below is a list of before and after school programs offered at College Gardens Elementary School for fall/winter 2024.

  • A Family Kitchen Cooking Class: Mondays from 3:50 PM to 5:00 PM starting September 23 through November 18, 2024 (no class on November 4).

  • ACD Dance (Jazz Ballet Hip Hop): Thursdays from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM starting September 19 through December 12, 2024 (no class on October 3 and 31, and November 28). Tuition is $265. For more information, download the flyer here.

  • Big Learning Science & Engineering: Wednesdays from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM starting October 2 through November 20, 2024 (8 classes total). Tuition is $170. Sign up by September 16 to receive an early bird discount!

  • Book Club: The goal of this club is to promote a love of reading and to provide a space for young readers to discuss books! Meetings are held on the third Thursday of each month, starting on Thursday October 17th at 5:30 PM at the Fallsgrove Panera.

  • C&O Chess Club: Fridays from 8:00 AM to 9:15 AM in the Media Center starting September 20 through December 20, 2024 (13 classes total). Tuition is $180.

  • Group Music Fun! (Piano Guitar Violin Drum): Wednesdays from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM starting October 2 through November 6 (6 classes total). Tuition is $139. Must register by September 25, 2024.

  • i9 Sports (soccer and basketball): Soccer is on Tuesdays (outdoors) from 3:50 to 5:00 PM starting October 1 through November 12, 2024 (6 classes total). Basketball is on Thursdays (indoors) from 3:50 to 5:00 PM starting October 10 through November 14 (5 classes total). Tuition is $129 each.

  • Math Olympiad: Math Olympiad is an after school club on Wednesdays for students in Grade 3, 4, 5, led by our very own Mr. John Wright, CGES paraeducator. WINTER & SPRING 2024/2025 - Before and After School Programs at CGES

Below is a list of before and after school programs offered at College Gardens Elementary School for winter and spring 2024/2025. Updates are in purple.

  • A Family Kitchen Cooking Class: Tuesdays from 3:50 PM to 5:00 PM starting January 14 through March 4, 2025. Professional Chef and Teacher, Kristen Phillips, of A Family Kitchen, returns to College Gardens to offer this fun and popular cooking class for young cooks! Students will make delicious snacks each week and learn basic cooking skills, including knife skills, measuring, baking, kitchen safety, and how to follow a recipe. Students will receive weekly recipes and a cookbook at the end of the session. Students in 1st-5th grade can participate.   • Abrakadoodle Art (Stay and Play through the City of Rockville): Wednesdays from 4:00 to 5:00 PM starting January 15 through March 12, 2025 (no class Jan. 29). This session is called "Something's Special About Our Art!".   • Adventure Theatre (Stay and Play through the City of Rockville): Tuesdays from 4:00 to 5:00 PM starting January 14 through March 4, 2025. This session is called "Kids on Broadway".   • ACD Dance (Jazz Ballet Hip Hop): Thursdays from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM starting February 20 through May 29, 2025 (no class on March 20 and 27, and April 17). The session culminates with a performance at The Academy of the Holy Cross on June 7. Tuition is $425. To register, visit their website here.

 

  • Big Learning Science & Engineering (Architecture and Engineering):
    • Dive into Dimensions (Grades K-2): Wednesdays from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM, 1/15/24-3/12/24 (8 classes), tuition is $170.

 

  • Big Learning Foreign Language - Spanish and French:
    • Spanish Introductory (K-1) and Spanish Beginner (2-5) - Fridays from 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM starting January 17, 2025.
    • French Beginner (2-5) - Wednesdays from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM starting January 15, 2025.
    • Tuition is $170. Register here.

    • Basketball - Tuesdays, 3:50-5:00 PM, 12/3/24-2/15/25 (10 weeks for $225)
    • Soccer - Wednesdays, 3:50-5:00 PM, (a) 12/4-2/12 OR (b) 2/19-4/9 ($180 per session).
